What does ISO certification mean?

The ISO 9000 series standards include:

  • ISO 9001:2008 – Specifies the requirements for a quality management system.
  • ISO 9000:2005 – Covers basic concepts and terminology.
  • ISO 9004:2009 – Focuses on how to make the quality management system more efficient and effective.
  • ISO 19011:2011 – Provides guidance on the audit of quality management systems, both internal and external.

Baosirui obtained ISO 9001 certification in April 2007 and AS9100c certification in June 2011. The main processes at Baosirui include:

  • Sales
  • Procurement
  • Production
  • Inspection
  • Transportation

Each of these processes is crucial for improving customer satisfaction and efficiency. All processes have procedures, guidelines, and on-the-job training to ensure that everyone understands and adheres to the system.

Each month, the progress of each process is monitored and charted. These charts measure the percentage of each process achieving the 100% customer satisfaction goal. The charts are posted for everyone to monitor and track all processes.

ISO 9001:2008 specifies the standards for a quality management system and is the only certifiable standard in the series (although certification is not mandatory). Any organization, regardless of size or business sector, can utilize it. In fact, over one million companies and organizations in more than 170 countries have implemented ISO 9001:2008.

The standard is based on a series of quality management principles, including a strong customer focus, the involvement and guidance of top management, a process approach, and continual improvement. Implementing ISO 9001:2008 helps ensure that customers receive consistent, high-quality products and services, leading to numerous business benefits.

A critical component of ISO 9001:2008 is checking whether the system is functioning correctly. Organizations must conduct internal audits to assess the operation of their quality management system. Organizations can choose to invite an independent certification body to verify compliance with the standard, but this is not a requirement. Alternatively, organizations may invite their customers to personally audit their quality system.
